Last night, my car wouldn’t accelerate anymore after I hit the gas to pass a car. What could be wrong?
I have a 95 nissan altima. I’ve noticed this a couple times where I try to accelerate quickly and the engine makes a loud revving noise and the rpm’s shoot up. After it goes back down, it accelerates fine. Last night, I was on the freeway and tried passing a car by hitting the gas. It made the same revving noise but after a little bit, it wouldn’t accelerate anymore when I hit the gas pedal. I luckily passed the truck and went onto the side of the road. Turned the car off. It turned on just fine but still wouldn’t accelerate. After a couple more times of trying this, the car wouldn’t start anymore. Lights came on still and sounded like it was going to start up, but didn’t. What could be wrong?
