Toy Nib
HELP! My puppy thinks I am his chew toy!?
my 10 weeks old puppy likes to nibs on people, he keeps nibbing my toes, pants, everywhere. I told him No but he wouldn’t stop, I gave him some chewing toys but he shows not much interest in them. Is it normal puppy behavior? How to correct him? I am worry this behavior will worsen and he will bite my kids.
PLEASE HELP.
he is a Schnoodle, mini size. Now weight 5lbs.
It’s normal puppy behavior, but that doesn’t mean you should tolerate it.
Puppies don’t have hands; they test everything with their mouths. We wouldn’t mind, but those puppy teeth are /sharp/!
When your puppy hurts you with her teeth, shriek “OOWWW!” very loudly and stop playing. Stand up, tuck your hands in your armpits so the pup isn’t tempted to jump up, turn your back. Don’t look at the puppy, don’t talk. Wait till the puppy gives up and then resume ordinary behavior, not the game you were playing.
This is the same behavior that helps puppies teach each other how hard they can bite before their littermates shriek and refuse to play with them. It teaches the pup to control his bite.
If you’re in a position where the above isn’t usable, take hold of her muzzle from above, push her lips against her teeth and say, “No teeth!” very sternly, and push her away. Repeat as necessary.
