Summer Colors Inflatable

What kind of animals (rodents)?

What kind of animal, rodents, mammals burrow underground and give birth to their calves in spring? We live in the Northeast, and last week have been doing some gardening. We are trying to level an area in our backyard Pool Inflatable this summer, so we are digging the ground behind our storage shed transport our backyard. Today, my husband was digging and hit a "nest" of gender that contain these small animals. Are perhaps 2.3 inches long, gray, and appear to have no heads. He says yes, but they are so small that your eyes are not open yet. Unfortunately, shovel caused two to die, but many others are still there. We take extra dirt and covered them back up, and found a new place to dig. We are thinking groundhog or beaver, which are the responsibility of the feet of a river. Anyone know for sure? What should we do with the "survivors"? Thanks for any input. PS Yes, I did call him a "murderer" and yell at him by damaging two. :)

It could be a family of moles. Burrowing into the ground and are greyish and small … very nice. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mole_ (Animal) I guess it's hard to know for sure, since you are so young. I would try not to move, if possible, because it might scare the mother if she is nearby. There are ways of collecting human babies and move them, I do not know the details of this. Good luck:)
