Why do soap bubbles fall down?
Yeah, I know, this is a stupid question. But in the last few days I was really bored and I made a lot of soap bubbles and I’ve noticed they keep falling down and they do very quick, except some of the smaller ones.
So, why do they fall down if they’re full of air too?
The soap still hass mass so it is attracted ot the ground by gravity just like you. The smaller ones are light enough that fluid dynamic drag is a factor.
Usually the drag and air currents in “still” air are enough to influence a buble since they’re so light. This is why they seem to float around alot. However, in vacuum, a bubble will fall just as fast a a bowling ball believe it or not.
