When driving an automatic is a good practice to put the car in "park" when you're waiting for a green?
I drive a 07 Pontiac Exercise (yes – pretty tragic, huh?), But I always wondered – if I reach a point at an intersection, and have to wait .. say .. 30 ~ 40 seconds for a green, why not put the car in 'P' and have my foot on the brake pedal? when the lights turn green, I just put the car "D", and go – I do not foresee that shipping damage, even in the long run, if I take the vehicle to a complete stop before being deposited in the park. Any ideas?
It does not matter i do not think. I put my truck in neutral when I come to a train crossing for example, the same thing. I like it so the torque converter is not sitting there with the pumping pressure waiting for the unit. Posted in park will not hurt anything, as long as it stops complet as you said you do.

Human-Power Is About Doing More With Less
I strongly believe in the pursuit of human powered efficiency for a very important reason:
The green, non polluting technical innovations that we develop in our super efficient human powered vehicles designed to go vast distances on the minuscule 1/4 horse power of a human can be incorporated into more fuel efficient methods of transportation that will lessen our reliance on fossil fuels and soften the impact on our environment. Human power is all about the pursuit of doing more with less and it is a refreshing approach compared to our current approach here in North America and many places in the world now, of always seeking to accomplish more with MORE. Bigger cars, faster cars, more consumption, more, more, more.
And in this challenging economic environment, isn’t adopting the attitude of doing more with less going to be a fundamental survival tactic for a lot of companies? Isn’t it also true that one of the greatest resources in most businesses is it’s people? It’s HUMAN POWER!
When I pedaled my human powered vehicle 647 miles in one day and set a new world record, I was out to show the world the amazing distances a mere human being is capable of traveling under his own power when there are no technical limitations. This category of record attempt does not have strict rules regarding your equipment like bicycle racing for example. Aside from not allowing any kind of wind assistance or stored energy of any sort, we are free to explore new innovative technologies in the pursuit of efficiently using every single watt of power from a human being.
It is my hope that people will become inspired by what I am able to demonstrate using human power, and perhaps start to incorporate a bit more human power into their own lives. human power
