Pool Kid

How to prevent algae from a group of ducks?
We have two ducks and have a toddler pool for them. The problem is I do not know what to do to keep algae out of the pool. Can I use bleach? Will the chlorine harm the ducks?
Bleach can be very dangerous for wildlife, so I would not recommend at all. Algae really need two main things to grow – the sun so they can perform photosynthesis and nutrients in the water so a good plan is to start by looking at these. For example, shade the pond could somehow reduce the light reaching there? Depending on pond size, which could also consider adding some aquatic plants that absorb some of the nutrients in the water making life difficult to algae. Finally, some people have had success by adding barley straw to your pools water chemistry change a bit and it seems that the control algae as well.
