Play Pit

How I can play in the musical theater pit orchestras?
I am a college student currently minoring in music and would like play on the keyboard musical theater pit orchestras in the future. What do I have to do to prepare for a job and what contacts / routes that I have to follow?
You want to start locally. To see if the summer musical theater productions in your area that you need. To be honest – the keyboardist in the mouth may be the musical director – And that is a job that requires much more than just a player boxes – been there, done that – lots. If it comes to BROADWAY concerts are getting tougher than one. . . does not matter. I have colleagues who do this (I live outside New York). This requires SERIOUS skills and connections – none of the advanced studies degree or equivalent * last time the fees you pay *. As a show closes, the people are back in the A-list players for the first call – and has remained almost a closed system. If never intend to work in a big city, you need to be there, learning, playing, etc.. Occasionally, someone working Vegas knows this guy lent him a concert in Chicago, and both are going to play a tour together – that sort of contacts. Do not be discouraged – but be realistic. Only this night, someone told me about a young man comes, I had dreams * * – and that person says it is difficult for young people to separate dreams as fantasies * *. Dreams can come true with education, experience, contacts, and luck. Fantasies? Not so much. . .
