On water and plastic
Much has been said about the exponential form in which the technology has advanced in recent years. I was born in 1970 and always I've been a great lover of music. In my lifetime, I have gone from the 8-track and vinyl records to cassette tapes, CDs and iTunes now. Cell phones have become an integral part of our lives, but anyone older than 30 years, remembers a time when the phones and where it appears a rotary dial. Yes, things find something plastic. This relentless ubiquity makes it hard to believe that the plastic has not always been a part of our world.
The Age of Plastic began in 1909 when Leo Baekeland created Bakelite, a synthetic polymer composed of phenol and formaldehyde. Since then, the world has never been the same. Brushes teeth, chairs, shopping bags, nylon shirts, Teflon pans, car bumpers, Tupperware containers, sunglasses, navigation devices GPS, Gore-Tex jackets, bobble-head dolls and the keyboard I use to write these very words, are all wholly or partly from plastic.
It is ironic and paradoxical that the material responsible for drastically changing the world is also the same who refuses to change. Before plastic, all the elements of nature coexist in a mutation constant and cyclical. Processing cycles were, in most cases, relatively short. If you threw a banana peel in a field and returned chemically inert plastic waste may be a thousand years to decompose completely. The ecological consequences of the durability of plastic are starting understand, but one thing is certain, resistance to natural degradation process can be extremely destructive. However, this is not an article on the ecological consequences of plastic pollution. It's a short meditation on the beauty and the need for change as it applies to nature and our consciousness.
Compared with plastic, the water is one of the substances most harmonious and integrated quickly and easily in their surroundings. The structural simplicity water molecule attaches to the graceful fluidity that has allowed life to exist on our planet. Where no water, no life. The opposite can be said about plastic, its complex molecular structure that refuses to change, destroys the life around him. Similarly, in our lives, the simplicity, the generosity and willingness to transform ourselves graciously allow us to interact with our environment, convolution, concealment and threatens to destroy the rigidity everything inside and around us.
Water has no fear, running, drops, the waves, it crystallizes and evaporated. Water changes again and again without losing all incarnations of the same flow. We are no exception, water enters and leaves our body throughout our life, constantly replenishing 75% of our physical mass. Niagara Falls has been in me, and part of my time is turned into a rainbow. Therefore, if the change occurs so much beauty, why what we want to be plastic? If processing is life, why we want to be without life?
For centuries, children were allowed to be innocent and the elderly are considered wise and respectable. Today, thanks to a phenomenon that advertising and marketing agency called "age compression," the children strive to look older and the old haunts to look younger. Age compression is based on making you feel inadequate with your age and then sell you something promises to solve the "deficiency." The idea is that there is a perfect age to be seen as young, strong, healthy and independent, and you should strive to achieve and maintain it. Whether you dress up to pretend you're not a child or the purchase of a sports car to pretend they are not older age compression you want a large majority of people to spend money in a vain attempt to remain unchanged.
Praising momentum for change can be profitable for advertisers and businesses, but certainly has not been beneficial to society in general. inserts. Ironically, this horrible practice is done in the name of beauty. But the worst damage is not physical but psychological, living in a constant state of perceived failure has taken a great toll cultural.
After seeing an ad for Viagra, a wise old man told me: "Why knowledge of their traditions. His older were wiser and more courageous, because of these contemplations, while in his opinion, today's older generation take on aging and on the west is engaged in the practice useless to deny the passage of time. In order to live a full life, we must prepare to welcome the death, let's be ourselves and water flow. Plastic, like a face without expression full of Botox, has no life. Is not it worth a moment of transformation an eternity of non-life?
