Pits Pools Sand
Complex Toilet Training for Dogs?
I want to get my Kelpie x Fox Terrier a Play Pool thing and fill it up with soil so she can dig around in it. Her area is concrete and we’re away a lot so I wanted to occupy her. However, her toilet area is a little patch of soil in a wooden box on a piece of cardboard, just around the corner from where I want to put the sand pit. She’s been going to the toilet there for nearly six months (since a couple of weeks after we got her from the shelter) and I was worried whether there’s a chance she goes to the toilet in her digging up place instead of around the corner at her toilet? Is there anything I can do to stop her from going to the toilet there?
That is a lovely idea. Way to go. I agree – bury treats, bones, toys, etc so she gets used to the idea of digging in there. If she does go to the toilet there, just remove the faeces and put it in the “correct” spot. I doubt she’ll make a mistake.
