Paradise Lagoon

Paradise Lagoon
Chapter 1: Lord of the Flies?

The description of the island, and the boys’ actions at the end of the chapter, further the paradoxical presentation of this “so-called” paradise. Explain this paradox with reference to the end of the chapter.

I don’t quite know how to answer this. In class our teacher went over the good and bad points of the island. Bad being: the scar, the dense forest, the creepers…etc. Good being: the fruit on the island, the beautiful lagoon, the coral reef…etc. But, how does this relate to the pig incident? Something to do with the fact that living on this island isn’t going to be as easy or as fun as they assume it will be? Help is appreciated :)

it is a paradox, because while the boys think it is a paradise, its really a war amongst themselves, slowly diminishing all aspects of civility on the island.
