Loud Gas

Loud Gas
My gas furnace occassionally makes a loud boom.?

My furnace occasionally makes a loud exposion when it ignites, contrary to the soft ignition that usually occurs when it comes on. The force of this blast knocks dust from the inside of the furnace and burning smells also result. Another thing that happens when it does this is that the flames burn mostly orange and yellow and are more widespread than usual along the coils. What is this, why is this, and will the furnace need to be replaced? And the furnace has been inspected recently.

You may have a dirty burner, dissemble the furnace and use a vacuum to clean the dust accumulated on the burner.
The blast is because gas comes out erratically and takes time to reach the pilot flame, creating a accumulation of gas which explodes when the pilot flame reaches it.
If its been serviced recently ,maybe the air mixture was not properly adjusted, causing the orange flame, with a screwdriver you can adjust the air until a even blue flame is obtained.
Most likely you need to supply more air to the mixture.
Good luck
