How does gravity flow?
You have a tub of water. You have a cylinder with sand in it and put it in the tub. The cylinder is open at both ends. How is it that the water moves upward in the sand, if the gravity flow down?
Water moves up because the water pressure is greater (if any) that the force of gravity.
