Electric Ride Motorcycle
How I can convince a risk averse, she was frightened wife who can buy insurance and a motorcycle?
For the past several months I have been investigating the purchase of a motorcycle. I have taken and passed my apprenticeship Lices and plans to take a safety course. I chose to buy the silver jacket, helmet and reinforced riding boots. I have read the statisitcs on the main causes of motorcycle accidents and most are done to pilot error or stupidity. I tried to explain these things my wife, but she says she never believe they are safe and that the greatest way to increase security is user awareness and safety. In other responses I've read suggestion that his ride with me or to get finally one too, but that never happen. What I can do or what I can statistics and information will show to ease your mind I'm not strapping an electric chair? Thanks, CPD
Here is what I say to my wife on a motorcycle, you have less distractions in a car. N stereo (at least on my bike:) without food, without having to look away in the back seat without giving voices on the phone, not talking with their passengers. Two goals … to ride the bike … do not die. You sit higher than most vehicles on the road. You can find more clear majority of the cars. Because you have less mass, you can accelerate faster, stop better, and outside handle anything on 4 wheels (mostly). As you are concerned, if you has taken the MSF course, and apply their defensive driving skills, the chances of avoiding an accident is likely to be in his favor. If you do a lot of motorway driving (like me), you get a bonus. Motorways are the safest place for motorcycles. Everybody goes in the same direction, and the only difference is speed. It is very difficult to get into serious problems on the highway unless you are acting stupid or totally spaced. By the way, I would try to avoid some of the obvious corrolaries to these statements, if possible, and that could work against you!
