How do I heal my thumb which has been slammed by a sliding car door?
Last night I was shoving my luggage in the back of the van, the van was parked down hill and the door was locked in place, after I shoved my bags in, I hit the door so it could come down and my thumb was holding the bar so the door slide right down into my thumb, the door completely closed in place, it didnt just bounce off. It closed as if my thumb was a little tissue paper just flying around, half of my nail is black (dark purple) and it hurts sooo much, whenever I touch anything or do any movement. Its not broken because I can move it..but it really hurts and my thumb is fat.
Help?!?!
Common sense would dictate you have it seen by a Dr. and x-rayed for a possible hairline fracture , if it isn’t broken.. There is nothing you can do except make yourself comfortable..An aspirin may help reduce the pain and an icepack will also aid in reducing the pain and the swelling..The nail will come off and the body will replace it with a new nail unless you damaged the nail bed..The body is an amazing thing..With just a little help it will heal itself most of the time .
