Does a fresh water aquarium need a bubble maker?
I just got a 3 gallon fish tank and started with 4 small gold fish. There is a water filter that filters water and the water cascades down and introduces some air bubbles into the water. Do I need a separate bubble maker to add more air to the water? That bubble maker is very noisy…
My bad…it’s actually 5 gallon tank…I got a handme down…had to take a measurement and do a cubic inch to gallon conversion… Per consensus, I’m getting rid of the bubble maker…It’s too noisy for me…And it must be lot noiser in the tank for the fish.
Good question, and my answer is no. Taller tanks utilize air wands to give some extra surface agitation. Your filter will break the waters surface, as water pours out of it, and that should be enough for a tank that size. I have one of the tanks with filter built right into the hood and have a betta in there.
On another note, you may want to reconsider your tank stocking.Gold fish are known as big waste producers and in a tank that size it doesn’t take long for the water to foul.
