Big Toys Pedal

Big Toys Pedal
Why do people act so passionate about department store bikes?

Why when someone gets a bike at a big discount store Target, Kmart, Wal-Mart or Toys R Us, everyone has all excited and say those bikes are terrible. I purchased a $ 129 aluminum bike PK7 Magna to exercise and do not want to lose an extra $ 400 in case of theft. I just picked him up and feels soft to me. All my immigrant friends get bikes under $ 200. Perhaps the parts (pedals) are not as good, however, all frames use the same metal. Am I right? For common commute, I'm sure a bike discount should be more than good. Is it a marketing brainwashing in the bicycle industry at all convinced that an aluminum bike sold for $ 100 sells for $ 1000 in a bike shop? Are not all the metals of the same? Is mean when a child with a family could only afford one at Toys Huffy R Us was told the bike is junk! Any supporters discounted bike shop there?

It is very simple. Used to be that you could buy a good, fast and reliable bike for under $ 100. In those days, the bikes were built with components that were easily replaceable and useful for ordinary people because at the time the cost of repairing a bicycle was much less than the price of buying a new one. And these bikes were sold at independent bike shops that made money in the repeat business of maintaining and repairing bicycles. Fast forward 30 years. Now there is $ 10,000 bikes that are so featherweight that can easily lift with one hand without straining. Road biking is now a reasonably fast "luxury", an activity that ordinary people can easily spend $ 2 3k per year. At the opposite end of the spectrum, there are now budget mountain bikes sold in Walmart for $ 50 fully plastic junkie, welded steel stripped bolts and diving. These bikes are so cheap that the reliability and maintainability have been completely abandoned to save every penny for Wal-Mart can make an additional 0.1% profit on every bike sold. And without a service department in which the benefits in the repair and service bicycles, Walmart has no interest one in selling a quality product. In fact, it works best on your behalf to sell a bike junkie breaks, because their customers will be forced to buy another. Examples poor quality of the bike worksmanship Walmart: misaligned brakes rub the rim while driving. wheels that fold incorrectly tensioned so after hitting the nuts and bolts smaller shocks that have been tightened so hard on the keys of the Air, hex heads have been completely stripped, effectively making it impossible to adjust nothing "suspension" of the forks and frames that are so soft, it loses all power literally bouncing up and down instead of going forward maladjusted derailleurs and chains that are constantly rubbing against something. In short, the reason people rag department store bikes is that quality has gone downhill as much as a result of these throwaway bikes that literally any bike for 30 years has run faster, more reliable, more needed service any brand new bike sold in a department store. Somehow, instead of things getting cheaper and better over time, have only worsened. And 90% of these bikes end up in the trash because you break a component, so that unridable.
