Balloons Filler
how many balloons to jump off the ground?
i have a little larger than normal party sized balloons. i have around 60, and was really wanting to try to have a few long jumps like an astronaut would do in space. not flying but get some gravity off me. i want some lift and was wondering if all of these filler with helium would do the job. and dont be gay and say like 10,000 ballons fags

You would need a fair few balloons – if you saw the number of balloon that South American priest had – you would need probably 70% – 80% of that amount !
Around the turn of the last century – (1900) there was a “crazy” for balloon jumping. The kit consisted of a canvas gas balloon which you filled with Hydrogen or “Coal gas” and under which you hung.
As a weighting device you would have a length of thick rope; the higher you went the more rope you would lift off the ground so the heavier you would be come. This would act as a brake stop you floating away !
You also carried a long pole like a pole vaulter’s which you would use to push off and to break your fall as you came back down to earth.
Basically you would set your balloon and set off down wind – “jumping across” the countryside – doing about 200 hundred yards to 1/2 a mile in a jump depending on how hard you pushed and the wind speed.
I bet it would be Great Fun to try it.
