Great Gifts for Busy, (hyper) active children
Is your son, like mine, busy, active, and can never sit still? Make a lots of toys for Christmas or Haunukah get played with once (if ever) and then re-use? In today's economy who do not want to spend money on gifts your child will not enjoy its use. This year could be more strategic and thoughtful about the gifts you buy if you think about what your child really going to use and enjoy. Here, in no particular order, is my "gift making, for busy people, (hyper) active children. Some of these are appropriate for younger children, while others are more suitable for older children.
• trampoline cover – you know, the small you can put in your basement. Get kids off the couch and the bed and no one gets hurt!
• jump ropes – again, 'Em use in the basement, or driveway. You CAN Jump Rope in a snowsuit!
• Pogo Stick – just be sure to take a helmet.
• Gift certificates to cover play area, sports comlex ski / toboggan park, "This is a great gift idea for grandparents, aunts / uncles (especially the cool "ones).
• Marble races – the woodens are the best. Drop the marbles and watch them go!
• Water Wheel – Well I have no idea what is really called. If you come to my office that I know what I mean. Water and some kind of oil color in a clear plastic container. If the tip of the water wheel to the ground spills to the bottom and turns a wheel in the interior point again and the wheel spins in reverse. Let me know if you know the name of this thing or if you can find an example for me to show people. I call this my "unofficial detetor ADHD." Each child or adult with ADHD can not put this thing!
• lava lamp – Same as concept of water wheel. Move fluid seems to be soothing and entertaining for hyperactive children.
• Entries for one, loud stadium event raucus – In our family's Monster Jam (Monster Trucks). Your child will like something different. This is a "if can not beat them join them as a gift. The children are screaming and so you can scream and out of the house and take them where crying is acceptable and can be with their own peeps (not hyperactive children).
• A gift certificate for homemade sled, build a snowman, cookies, watch a movie, go shopping with you – this can be the best gift of all. Just be sure to go ahead and comply with the certificate later.
